The Menu system here is quick and to the point which is again something, I like better than Rhino. However, I do feel the lack of Scene Selection leaves something to be desired. However, at least this menu system has at least matches the imaging that directly relates to the show. I know Rhino’s menu more so looked as if the menu was in the Maximal’s command center but still this fits better in my opinion. I love the way when the disc is loading however that the Maximal symbol zooms into focus and Beast Wars covers it. And just before you know it the explosion happens and the menu shows up. I also like the metal doors slamming between the menu and episodes again displaying Beast Wars. This was a great job and like I said only lacked a scene selection for the episodes.

I really didn’t want to do a compare here but got enough feedback to produce timed lengths of the intros. I was unaware of there being so many different versions but here goes.

Season 1 –  0:31 |  Season 2 – 1:02  |  Season 3 – 1:01

Shout! Factory:

Season 1 –  0:28 |  Season 2 – 1:01  |  Season 3 – 1:00

This complete series boxset displays some nice different features from the first. That being Producer interviews and Art. Some of the other special features are included from the previous Rhino release with some of the writers and the original CGI Test Animations. The only things I wish they could have added were the Spark return of Classic G1 Megatron which was on the Rhino Season 3 Set and the “Theft of the Golden Disc”. The latter being a completely understandable legal issue. As far as one feature that was a nice addition, the comic was a nice touch. It at least gives the part of the prequel we can see and brings this series full circle.

Audio for this set is as great as I remember it. Thankfully Rhino left it alone and Shout! being able to go after the original masters had still received the most perfect of the sets.

As far as Visual, the menu’s as stated above was stunning. The overall visual quality was great and again as good as it could be for the original renders and masters. This boxset and its individual sleeves were done in a wonderful fashion that properly displays the greatness of this boxset. The outer shell is a great shining piece of excellence and gives a much bolder display to the sets than the original boxsets did. I also love the imaging they used collaging the characters creating the individual season sets. With Combining Season 2 and 3 into one boxset they also made it so two DVD sets fit into the sleeve. Which being a nice touch helps it be slightly larger than the original Rhino Season 1 set.

In my humble opinion and is the Beast Wars aficionado I am, I would give these very very high ratings. For those that already have the original Rhino sets, I would say get this for all that is missing and wrong with the Rhino sets and to have a great new display piece. However, for those that love Beast Wars and that do not have this set, you cannot go wrong here.
