Happy 626 Day!

Hello all and welcome back to TFG1Mike 365! When I started this in January of 2019, the idea was for me to write something, anything, once a day for 365 days. You can find all the blogs over at FROM THE DESK OF TFG1Mike! Today is a write up of 626 Day, celebrating all things LILO & STITCH!

I was 22 years old when Lilo and Stitch was released in theaters in 2002. I was stuck in between living life, and figuring out what I wanted outta life. I had been moving around a lot, and never really settling in anywhere. I hadn’t really found my place in the world yet. So when I saw Lilo and Stitch for the first time it really resonated with me, and brought me back to a simpler time, as well as teaching me lessons of how to handle the present, as well as plan for the future. I still had no idea what I was gonna do or where I was gonna end up, but it was a fun little film, that soon spawned it’s own universe! I FORGET WHO I was gonna do this with, but I do have plans to cover EVERY ANIMATED Lilo and Stitch thing over on ToonCast later this year, at least the ones that are in English….  So there’s that! I did recently watch all the Lilo and Stitch animated films to catch up for the live action one…. yes I know I didn’t really have to watch them all, but I like the other animated ones.

The marketing for the first film was amazing, the Aladdin ad was always my favorite. “GET YER OWN MOVIE!” I know there’s a corner of the fandom out there that criticize the live action Disney film for changing certain characters, plot elements, and etcetera ….. however they had to do that in my opinion to make a meaningful film.

I’ve seen so many interviews with Chris Sanders and others, and I love hearing from all of them. I love the behind the scenes from all the films. Hearing from the co-creator in Mr. Sanders is especially awesome. This is the guy who IS STITCH, he’s the voice, he’s the character, and I love his enthusiasm for the POSITIVITY that the Lilo and Stitch universe gives off!
