MY YT Subscription Page!

Hello all and welcome to a NEW Daily Blog series from me… TFG1Mike! The idea here is for me to write something, anything, once a day for 365 days. From January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026. In my 2nd entry of 2026, I’ll be talking about the The YouTube Subscription Page!

THE YOUTUBE SUBSCRIPTION PAGE:

I have been using the YouTube Subscription Page ever since I joined YT in 2008 as a viewer on the platform. I’ve always been a seeker, a searching wanderer … Loooking fotr what EXACTLY I WANT, not letting some Algorithm find stuff for me. I come from a generation where I had to look words up in the dictionary, thesaurus, and other places. Where I had to use encyclopedias to find my knowledge, yes I could ask my Mom, or my Dad, but they would try to get me to learn the answer to my question first, before just GIVING me the answer. So when I’ve gotten to the point of being on YouTube for 18 years…. YEAH I rely on the subscriptions page I’ve built up over that nearly 2 decades! Versus the main page suggestions, and any other suggestions that the YouTube algorithm might think are relevant to me. Hell I’ve practically curated my YUT experience so well that any suggestions from said algorithm are irrelevant!

However I do wish YouTube would make some changes to the subscriptions page. Really only one specific one. I wish it would have TABS at the very top. See up there in my first image where it says “LATEST”…? I wish we had two TABS, LATEST and LIVE. Latest would let everything that is not a LIVE VIDEO SHINE, and the LIVE tab… well should be self explanatory! Between my first image up there, and the image right below here… It’s actually a RARE Friday where only FOUR YT channels were LIVE. There are some days where these rows are three rows deep of LIVE CHANNELS.

I am not referring to ANY OF MY FRIENDS who do live streaming on YT, I’m referring to all the broadcast or clip channels I’m subscribed to. YES I KNOW I CHOSE TO BE SUBSCRIBED TO THEM, and YES I know I can choose to UNSUBSCRIBE from these channels. However how would I stay up to date on all the useless info that I have rattling around in my brain?

I think it would make the Subscriptions page more dynamic if it had those tabs that I mentioned. Keeping the LATEST to just non live videos and adding a TAB for LIVE VIDEOS. That would make it soooo much more enjoyable for me! In the long run I want to see what the channels I subscribe to actually upload, and If I have to scroll for days for that… That’s gonna make me wanna just give up and come back later. OR I’ll find a video from each channel, watch that video, click on that channel, and just marathon the videos I haven’t watched from each of those channels. Yes I’m a stubborn old man! One more point on engagement and searching… since the shorts image is right there^^, I’ll say this, I find more stuff out of the shorts feed than anything else… At least out of the stuff I’m not subscribed to!

As I was writing this post up, I just saw that Pop Culture Brian video on Facebook and Instagram about Bob’s Burgers. I guess that’s what I get for following a content creator in multiple places right? Also the Tucker Budzyn vid there…? I’ve seen all the individual parts of that on their other social media platforms, but I love watching it on their YouTube channel as one longform thing.

Now for my YT Main Page, I was kinda shocked! As you can see from the image, four outta the six videos it gave me were from my subscriptions! Only the SS86 Seeker and the Fluffy video are suggestions! So mayyyyybe YouTube is learning! I’m still gonna depend on my Subscriptions Page though!
