6 TV Shows In 1!
Hello all and welcome to my continuing Daily Blog series from me TFG1Mike. This is TFG1MIKE 365!! And it The idea here is for me to write something, anything, once a day for 365 days. From January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025. It’s Day 160 and I’ll be talking about the fact that these are the six TV shows to know me by!!!! But first…
Back in 2019 I wrote two entries about TV. (I’m sure there were more, but these are the major two I wrote). On Day 17 of 2019, I wrote about How TV Rots Your Brains! After that Day 47 of 2019 was all about Tastes In TV! Check those out!
As an 80s kid, TV was life. From cartoons, to movies, and more! I was always in front of the TV! From the time MTV actually played music videos, to Knight Rider, and everything in between, TV was life as a kid. And so here are my six shows that I can and will always watch!

Knight Rider!
KNIGHT RIDER was my #1 action show as a kid! Airwolf and The A-Team were the next two that I absolutely loved. I was 2 when Knight Rider debuted on NBC. So it wasn’t until late 1984 and throughout 1985 that I caught the show. But once I saw it… I was hooked!!!

Yes, that’s me with THE MAN! The HOFF and I in 1986, what a moment! You can’t see it, but I am wearing a Knight Rider t-shirt! There even was a photo with my Mom Kathy, in that photo Mr. Hasselhoff picked her up and held her rescue style! I’m still trying to find that photo all these years later. Oh well I remember it, I guess that’s all that matters!

That lady was sooooo mad at me. She wanted me to look at the camera, I WANTED TO DRIVE K.I.T.T.!!!!!! What is and was soooooo GREAT about KNIGHT RIDER, is the message of the show! One Man CAN Make A Difference. I infer that as ONE PERSON CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!! To me it doesn’t matter if your man, woman, other otherwise classified. The message is that WE can make a difference in this world. In the 80s though with KNIGHT RIDER it was one man, Michael Knight… “on a crusade to champion the cause of the innocent, the helpless, the powerless, in world of criminals who operate above the law!” I know exactly where my never ending belief in doing the right thing, and being a good person came from. Yes obviously my parents, Gary and Kathy Blanchard, but it was TV shows like KNIGHT RIDER that impressed upon me the values an 80s kid should have. And those values are still with me today 42 years later! So yeah KNIGHT RIDER will always be at my #1 for TV shows. My TV shows here in this blog are all at the #1 position in my mind. Because each of them influenced me at the moments that they were in my life! You can see all my other KNIGHT RIDER Blogs as well as the BEYOND THE KINIGHT podcast right HERE!
Nash Bridges!

In the 90s the action TV show changed a bit. I mean there was still action, but instead of a talking car, or a secret helicopter… we had stuff like Walker, Texas Ranger, Martial Law, and more! Then in 1996 my favorite Cop TV show debuted. NASH BRIDGES, I knew of Miami Vice in the 80s, but I was a bit too young for that. I mean my Mom did let me watch anything, but I never really watched Miami Vice as a kid in the 80s. However as a teenager in the 90s, when NASH BRIDGES hit… I was like HELLLLLL YEEEAAAHHHHHH!! What makes this show so great, is the same thing that made KNIGHT RIDER great in the 80s! A main character in Don Johnson’s Nash Bridges! Nash can be summed up in two camps…. #1 a great cop, and #2 his personal life needs work. I say that second one, not to be negative, but when you are a cop, and you are on the job. Having a “life” outside of that, can be a difficult task. Nash and the SIU Crew got six seasons, although I wish it had been more… In those six seasons there was so much action, storytelling, music, guest stars, and more! It truly is one of the BEST Cop TV shows EVER in my opinion! What makes it so great? Well you have the setting of San Francisco… the city with the hills! You have Nash’s ’71 Cuda Convertible, you have Nash, Joe, Harvey, and the rest of the characters! With new characters coming in as the show progressed. You have guest stars from the previous shows that Cheech Marin and Don Johnson were in. YOU HAVE EXCELLENT WRITING! And it’s not just the ACTION, the EMOTIONAL component is there too with the storytelling.

There was a plan, years ago when The GCRN launched that I wanted to do a NASH BRIDGES review podcast. (I still want to do it) However in that time, I lost my podcast partner in our love of NASH BRIDGES. Derrick Ferguson of Better In The Dark, was gonna be my co host on the still unnamed NASH BRIDGES review podcast here at The GCRN. You can hear the late great man himself on GCR EP 010 right HERE! As I said we as a community of Geeks lost Derrick April 9, 2021… DAMMIT It’s been 3 years since he passed! You can read my blog where I remembered Derrick right HERE! It is called REMEMBERING DERRICK FERGUSON – BETTER IN THE LIGHT! Because it’s a play on his and Tom Deja’s old podcast name BETTER IN THE DARK! IF I do whatever this NASH BRIDGES review podcast will be, we will be doing it in Derrick’s memory! Especially since the show is supposedly coming back…. Supposedly…. There was that film that was on USA Network! That was pretty good, from what I remember of it.

The Shield!
In 2002 F/X Network launched on cable TV, with one of the most impressive cop shows ever. Seriously, without The Shield, there would be no other FX Originals! This was the show that grabbed me outta my funk, after Nash Bridges was cancelled in 2001! Starring Michael Chikilis, CCH Pounder, Jay Karnes, Walton Goggins, Kenny Johnson, and more! The Shield was about Vic Mackey and His Strike Team in LA. Created by Shawn Ryan… The Shield blew the doors off on what could be said and shown on basic cable in 2002! You don’t need to read me write about how awesome this series is, as you can hear Ryan The UnEvenFlow and I discuss it. We did this for the TV show’s 20th anniversary in 2022. It was over on Studio 2009 here on The GeekCast Radio Network! We discussion Season 1 and Season 2 of The Shield! There are still plans to discuss the other five seasons!

Boy Meets World!
If action 90s TV wasn’t your thing, there were comedies galore. However the best family comedy was Boy Meets World! Why this is in my Top 6 shows is because BMW was a show that taught us life lessons through key stages of a Boy’s life! Once again “WE HAVE A PODCAST FOR THAT!” Podcaster Meets World! Steve Megatron and I have been trying to get PMW finished for almost a decade now! I’m writing this in the future… September of 2025, but you’ll be reading it in the past, June 2025…. Since that passage of time we have completed our Boy Meets World Seven Season journey, and now we just have to head into Girl Meets World. I SWEAR IT WILL NOT TAKE US TEN YEARS!!! But you can listen to PODCASTER MEETS WORLD right HERE!

Dallas!
Image screencapped from this video!
Dallas was on TV when I was a kid. It debuted 2 years before I was born! I need to revisit it in the future, which I have not done yet. I do remember a bunch of things from it, like the rivalry between Bobby and JR, Bobby and Pam, JR and all his schemes! THAT THEME SONG THO!!!!!! And more…..They revived it in 2012 for three short seasons. Well the seasons weren’t short, but the fact that it only had three seasons…. ugh CURSE YOU STEVE MEGATRON!!!
At The end of the day what I remember most is Friday nights getting to to stay up late and watch this with my Mom, and always being very wary of Good ole J.R.!!!!

ALF!
ALIEN LIFE FORM!! ALF! The comedy of the 80s for me as a kid! There’s so much I want to say about ALF. Beyond just being a cool comedic show, ALF was a flavor of 80s television unlike any other. And I think I’m gonna save the rest for a future podcast or podcast series!

Remote Control – Series Finale Thoughts!
There ya have it folks. The 6 TV Shows that define me…. I stand by these choices, even though my TV tastes change , just like clickin’ the clickah…. These six shows will always be in the rotation!
Join me next time when I’ll be writing about something!
