TFG1MIKE 365 – 2019 Day 40
Last Year of My Thirties!
Hello all and welcome to a NEW Daily Blog series from me… TFG1Mike! The idea here is for me to write something, anything, once a day for 365 days. From January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019. In my 40th entry, I’ll be talking about my birthday and birthdays in general.
I grew up in the age before the internet. The age where you either called or sent someone a birthday card. Where a real interaction was required, and when birthday parties kinda mattered. Nowadays I just use Facebook to keep track of all my family members and friend’s birthdays. That is so sad right? I’m very cynical about my birthday, or I should say that I’ve gotten that way over the years. As kids we can normally say to our parents what kind of birthday party we want, and we’ll get exactly what we want. My Mom spoiled me, there’s no denying that fact. Normally if I wanted it I got it. There were times when I’d throw a fit as a kid, but most of the time… If I wanted something, the next birthday or Christmas I got it. I remember having all kinds of superhero themed parties, and when I was 10… I think I had a Simpsons party, because you know they were super popular at that time. I remember my 12th and 13th birthday parties, there was no real theme to either of them though.
I was living in Kentucky in 1995, and my 15th birthday was one I’ll never forget. I was at one of my fifteen state placements at the time. The Boys dorm was on the first floor and the Girls dorm was on the second floor. All the girls chiped in and got me as well as themselves tickets to see Randy Travis, Sammy Kershaw, and there was a third act, but I can’t remember it right now. Besides the staff that took us to the event from the group home, it was me and four other girls going to this concert! It’s a birthday memory that will forever be etched in my foggy mind.
I’ve had other great birthday memories throughout my now 39 years on this planet, but my memory has faded on a few of them. What are the ways that you celebrate your birthday? Let me know in the comments below!
Join me tomorrow morning February 10, 2019 as I’ll be writing about yet another topic that piques my interest!
